Scale Drawing

garden_pics2_016.jpgA In our scale drawing, 1 square inch is equal to 1 square foot in real life.
The way we found the area is by multiplying the length (15 ft) and width (3 ft) and we got an area of 45 square feet.

Then we found the perimeter by counting all the way around the rectangle, a quicker way is doing (length x 2) + (width x 2)= perimeter. So (15+15) + (3+3)= 36 square feet.

We planned our garden like this because we wanted to put our crops in columns instead of rows. We also planned it this way because it would be much easier to plant and every plant will get enough sunshine. We put two different plants in the last two squares to represent one of our own favorite plants. So my favorite was Basil and my partner's favorite would be Fennel only because he loves the taste of liccorice, and that's what fennel tastes like.
